Bon Voyage

Hello and welcome to all! Thanks for joining me here. I set up this blog to keep in touch with you, friends and family, as well as to keep a digital journal of my time in South Africa. Although I will undoubtedly be wickedly entertaining, bear with me as this is my first time writing for a crwod. I hope to include lots of photos to distract your attention and show you the beautiful Western Cape.

Here are a few of my first photos taken using my new camera- a Canon Digital Rebel- from a trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. I went there last weekend with my family to test our photography skills. I've been reading up on the complicated device and I have a lot to learn, but hopefully I'll learn with experience as I take pictures during my stay in South Africa.






I'm leaving for Cape Town, South Africa tomorrow morning and arriving there on Saturday. I'll be volunteering for 2 weeks at a daycare and 5 weeks at an elementary school in one of the townships near Cape Town. I'm not sure what to expect and quite frankly, don't want to set any expectations. All I know is that it is going to be incredible.
